Plot Summary:A chronological look at the life and work of Steve McQueen (1930-1980), from a loveless childhood, to early stage work, a TV series, and nearly instant stardom in films. Talking heads, who include two wives, his son, directors, fellow actors, and friends, discuss his style, competitiveness, instinct for the camera, and artistry. The trajectory is one of growing success until women, drugs, and a failed film (Le Mans) end his marriage and nearly end his career. We watch an actor who combines personal magnetism, extraordinary athleticism, and hard work emerge as the gold standard in action films - an actor commanding the screen more with movement (and those eyes) than words.
